Dhaka, 28 July 2026: The Ambassador of Spain to Bangladesh, Gabriel María Sistiaga Ochoa de Chinchetru, met with National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener and Opposition Chief Whip Md. Nahid Islam today at the party’s central office in Banglamotor, Dhaka.
Also present at the meeting were NCP Spokesperson Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan, International Affairs Cell In-Charge Alauddin Mohammad, Joint Secretary SM Saif Mustafiz, and Central Committee Member Ashrefa Khatun.
The discussions focused on Bangladesh’s post-election political landscape, progress on constitutional reforms, key reforms in the economy and judiciary, and issues of mutual interest relating to Bangladesh–Spain relations.
Both sides also exchanged views on Bangladesh’s economic outlook and explored opportunities to deepen economic cooperation and expand bilateral partnerships between the two countries.
The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to continued engagement and closer cooperation to further strengthen the longstanding relations between Bangladesh and Spain.
Following the meeting, NCP Convener Md. Nahid Islam congratulated the Spanish Ambassador on Spain’s triumph at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
